"Japan Reiseangebote" (Travel offers to Japan)

Starting situation:

One of the main tasks of the tourist boards is to offer assistance to their customers in  planning their trips. To do so, they have information material on offer that can be sent away on demand and be distributed on the major tourism fairs. Many of those brochures are produced in several languages for different source markets. Additional important information for the local source market is collected and edited by the tourist boards themselves - tasks that are time-consuming and costly. As there only is a limited number of financial means and as the boards usually only have a limited number of staff, the production of information material aimed at specific markets constitutes a huge financial burden and is difficult to be fitted into the working schedule.

The Japan National Tourist Organisation finds itself in the same situation. The small team in Frankfurt does an excellent job despite its tight budget. Every year a complete overview of all the trips to Japan offered by German tour operators is put together. This is a time-consuming task since all the tour operators have to be contacted and the offers have to be put together in a consistent way.

Target group:

Consumers interested in going on a trip to Japan

Task:

Grafenstein was asked to create an appealing layout for a brochure and to collect all the travel offers to Japan of German tour operators. At the same time the agency took over the task of selling advertisements to cover the costs of the brochure.

Solution:

The result is an appealing multi-coloured 40-page brochure, in which all the offers of the tour operators are listed in a table. Its clear arrangement makes it easy for the reader to compare the prices, travel routes and services of the different tour operators. The layout does not use up much space, which keeps its weight and thus also the postage costs when sending the brochures away as low as possible. Handing the task to the agency has reduced the workload of JNTO employees considerably.
