Tourism Authority of Thailand Destinations Events Present situation: Incentive trips to far-off places sell best when the seller has had the opportunity to experience the place him or herself. The role played by local knowledge and familiarity with the regions should not be underestimated. However, considerations of time and money often mean that the real local experience is not practicable. For that reason a form was sought to compressed this experience into an evening. Mexico and Thailand joined forces to develop this tool for marketing their incentive facilities. Target Group: - Incentive agencies - Corporate buyers Task: - Instead of taking agents to the destinations the destinations must come to the agents. - Knowledge to be imparted not in the form of a seminar, but in an entertaining setting with the typical atmosphere of the country. Solution: - Roadshow visited all the major German cities - Invitations to corporate buyers and staff of incentive agencies - To generate as much as possible of the typical atmosphere of the country, the events were held in hothouses. Traditional folklore, costumes, smells and sounds appealed to all the visitor’s senses. - Knowledge imparted through guided “expeditions” through the regions of Mexico and Thailand.
