AICEP (Portugal) Destinations Portugal E-Learning Portugal is a varied and multifaceted country made up of seven different regions, which – each with their own scenic beauty – have an individual character and thus offer countless possibilites for the holidaymaker. Studies have shown that, in many instances, travel agents lack the necessary knowledge that enables them to sell holidays to Portugal, thereby making use of all available facets/variants. While on the one hand, knowledge is limited to a small number of destinations (e.g. Lisbon, the Algarve), on the other few of the better-known products (e.g. walking holidays in Madeira) are sold particularly often. Target Group: Travel agents and tour operators Solution: Due to the many advantages for both tour operators and participants, e-learning has become a popular means of professional education in the tourist sector during the past five years. Grafenstein has put into practice an e-learning solution under www.portugal-schulung.de on behalf of the Portuguese tourist office ICEP, which facilitates comprehensive and cost-saving further training of a given number of travel agents irrespective of time and place. The mascot “Senhor Bom Dia” guides the user through training modules, which present each of the seven regions in a didactic fashion, including target-group bias and different types of holiday. The teaching material is broken up by educational and aptitude games; there are a number of tests allowing the participant to check on their progress. After successful completion of all the seminars, a final exam can be taken, leading to a possible “Portugal Travel Expert” certificate. ICEP regularly holds prize draws among the best passes winning places on info trips to Portugal. The cornerstone of the training is a Content Management System, which serves to input and later administer all contents (copy, images, downloads, etc.) via the Internet by the service provider. The administration tool (password-protected) allows you to access the participant database: Here, a list of participants may be downloaded at any time, which can be imported into Excel and/or other database systems. Also, serial mails may be sent out to different groups of participants. You may also call up utilisation statistics with this tool.
